I have known Sunil Fotedar for last 20 years
both as a friend and as a community activist. I
strongly endorse his candidacy for the position of
KOA President and this is why:
-
Sunil has been active with KOA since 1990-91.
He set up the first website for KOA and has
been maintaining many other relevant sites
ever since.
- He was contributed significantly to the
publications of Kashmiri Pandit International,
KOA newsletter and putting it online.
- While in Houston, Sunil was directly
responsible for setting up booths, displays
and posters at various Indian functions
highlighting the plight of our community in
India.
- In 1991, he with my little help, produced
the first ever video on the exodus of KPs
from the valley.
- He has been active member, supporter and
organizer of Texas Kashmiri Biradri Community
in Texas, ever since its inception in 1988.
I cannot think of any other Kashmiri Pandit who
would be more qualified for the position of KOA
president than Sunil. One thing everybody can
be sure of is that Sunil is going to be a hands-on
president as opposed to an armchair variety of
whom there is no dearth in our community.
Additionally,
he is a straight shooter who plays by the rules
and he most definitely is not prone to playing
games or indulge in high intrigue. Trust me, we
need a person whose priority should be the
community in US first and not worry about his
image in India. Besides, Sunil has the
potential to change the KOA directions
that it needs, to make it more suitable to
our youth - the future KOA.
Some of his critics seem to confuse directness
and straightforward style of communication with
volatility. Folks, Sunil is a good guy, let us all
vote for him.
